Pie Minister Review

I visited Pie Minister earlier this year & can’t wait to go back! It’s shabby chic interior sets the relaxed vibes for this eatery. It caters well for both vegans & non-vegans, perfect for a casual, affordable meal out.

Food: Vegan options were clearly labelled on the main menu & they had a whole seperate vegan menu too. Total comfort food at it’s best! No issues with quality or quantity but they’d ran out of vegan mash & vegan desserts!

Service: Staff were super helpful & acknowledged the fact I was vegan, also gave us a 10% discount as they’d ran out of certain vegan options!!

Price: Under Β£10 for a main & Β£4.50 for dessert.

There’s TWO vegan pies on offer: ‘Chooks Away’ (creamy vegan chicken pie with celeriac, smoked garlic & sherry) & ‘Kevin’ (a mushroom, tomato & red wine pie with baby onions & thyme). They also have a wide range of sides including ‘slaw, beans, mushy peas & loaded fries. I went for the Kevin pie as part of the Mother Earth meal. However, when ordering was informed they’d ran out of vegan mash! The waitress said she could swap it for chips & keep the other elements of the meal, which I did.

IMG_8816The pie was utterly delicious, so flavorful with the added red wine, packed with filling & the pastry light & flaky. The chips were hot & salty (its a good thing the chips were lush as I was so craving mash but genuinely forgot all about that after these…), & the peas were, well peas. The gravy was a nice addition as well & I liked that it came separately.

My mum had the Mothership meal which came with any pie, mash, minty mushy peas, cheddar & crispy shallots. She loved her meal & said she wants to return just to try more options out.IMG_8688Moving on to dessert, Pie Minister only do one dessert, Soft Serve Sundaes, but in a multitude of flavours & various toppings. However, when we ordered the waitress, again, informed us they were out of vegan ice-cream. So there was no dessert this time. But it’s just an excuse to go again soon!!IMG_8737Overall, Pie Minister caters well for vegans, with lots of choice, quality but affordable food in a relaxed atmosphere. The only downside was that they’d ran out of vegan things! Would I go back…most definitely!

Hope you enjoyed this review. Have you tried Pie Minister yet?
